Meta Photo Contest 2006 Winners

1st place – The president of the Ghana National Association for the Deaf stated in her acceptance speech, “In unity we can draw our strength.” Deaf students are demonstrating this unity while playing hand games. Photographer Amber Held studied with SIT and is from Boston University.
2nd place –A young Ugandan girl takes care of her baby sister while her parents earn a living teaching. Photographer Allyson Fauver studied with SIT and is from Marlboro College.
3rd place – Yak milk is one of the most important staple foods for Mongolian herding communities. Photographer Ashley St. Clair studied with SIT and is from University of Texas at Austin.
Honorable mention — Buoy lines and fishing boats dot the waters off the coast
of Italy’s Cinque Terre. Photographer Shelby Vermillion is from Ohio University.
